Great News! Indonesia is dropping its requirements for citizens to wear mask outdoors, this is in combination with the ease of travel as well, allowing vaccinated or negative pre-departure tests to travel more freely within the country.
President Joko Widodo has stated that “When people are doing outdoor activities, or in open areas that are not crowded with people, they are allowed not to wear masks”, masks are still to be worn indoors or on public transport however, this also includes the elderly or those with underlying health conditions.
Nyoman Sudarsana, the police department has stated that they will check if people have signed up with the PeduliLindungi application. This has been a great step in tracking citizen’s vaccination statuses, test results, as well as travel history within Indonesia.
This is done due to the declining cases of Covid-19 cases in the south east asian regions, this would hopefully encourage domestic travel and villa bookings as well!
